Our Mission:

Our mission at HCCA, is for every student to be college or career ready for success following graduation. By understanding that every child’s path to success does not look the same, we are able to provide different avenues of opportunities for students to find their passion to pursue.

We follow the Houston County Schools Mission Statement which is as follows:

“Sharing the vision; shaping the future”

Houston County Schools believes that our children are our future, commits to a partnership with stakeholders, and strives to provide safe, caring learning environments that encourage each student to achieve to his or her full potential.

Beliefs:

  • A school community should be a safe and caring environment that promotes respect, self-worth, creativity, and academic growth.
  • All stakeholders should work collaboratively.
  • Education must be responsive to the diversity of our students.
  • A school community should foster the intellectual, emotional, and physical well-being of each student.
  • Education should be celebrated as a lifelong process that fosters personal growth.
  • Essential components of learning are innovation, risk-taking, and challenging students' limits.

Our Location

HCCA is located at 662 West Main Street in downtown Dothan, making its proximity to each of the county high schools a conveinent distance.  A more central location allows us to maximize student engagement in the classroom while minimizing their travel time to and from our campus.

When planning a visit to HCCA, please note that the gates on the Main Street entrances remain locked at all times.  Please plan to enter our parking lot from the Adams Street side of our building.

HCCA Director &
HCS Dual Enrollment Supervisor

I am so excited to be the Career and Technical Director for Houston County Schools and the Houston County Career Academy! I am humbled by the opportunity to work with such a talented group of faculty, staff and students as we maintain the stellar reputation of HCCA.

On behalf of everyone at the Houston County Career Academy (HCCA) we welcome every student from all five high schools that we serve. Students, parents, industry partners, and community members are always welcome to call or visit to learn more about the opportunities career and technical education (CTE) has to offer the students of Houston County Schools.

HCCA houses dynamic CTE programs to prepare students for success. Students will complete HCCA college and career ready! The academic and technical skills learned through our CTE programs will ensure students leave HCCA prepared to succeed.  Students will also learn workplace and personal soft skills to enable them to reach their full potential. This is accomplished through an emphasis in career and technical student organizations including, FBLA, FCCLA, FFA, HOSA, NJROTC, SKILLSUSA and TSA.

Whether through a formal mentoring program or by placing students in job shadowing or internship opportunities, CTE links students to the community using work-based learning opportunities in ways that many other high school programs cannot.

For more information about the exciting opportunities at HCCA, please give us a call or just stop by.

HCCA Assistant Principal &
HCCA Counselor

I am so excited to serve as the Assistant Principal/Counselor at the Houston County Career Academy.  I am a product of Houston County Schools and have served as either a teacher, counselor, or administrator for the past 18 years.  After high school, I attended Troy University and earned a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Mathematics Education in 2005.   I pride myself on being a lifelong learner. Therefore, in 2008 I earned a Master's degree in School Counseling, in 2016 I earned an Education Specialist degree in School Counseling, and in 2019 I earned certification in Instructional Leadership.

Currently, I reside in Ashford with my husband, Ben, and our three children, Logan (14), Lynnlee (10), and Lawson (5).

During my career, I have had the opportunity to work with students and teachers from a variety of backgrounds. I enjoy working with others.  I feel it takes a community to raise a child. I want to be a part of this community and help instill the importance of learning and personal growth.  I truly feel blessed to be a part of the Houston County Career Academy!
